Sudan University of Science and Technology is now a member of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), which is an initiative that aligns institutions of higher education with the United Nations in supporting and contributing to the realization of United Nations goals and mandates, including the promotion and protection of human rights, access to education, sustainability and conflict resolution. SUST joined some 1500 institutions in more than 120 countries which are working with the United Nations to promote global priorities, including peace, human rights, and sustainable development. Evidently, the university has strong history in supporting the community; it has three main entities carry out activities that support United Nations goals and aspirations: Institute for Family and Community Development, Centre for Studies and Culture of Peace, and UNISCO Chair in Women, Science and Technology.
